After all this talk about her album sales, Chloe Bailey is finally addressing people’s comments on social media after they blamed Beyonce for not promoting her debut project, “In Pieces.” While Bey is gearing up for her Renaissance Tour, Twitter users were heavily pushing the blame on her for the fact that Bailey didn’t have a better debut, selling 11,000 copies and landing at No. 119 on Billboard’s Hot 200.
The “Treat Me” singer appeared on “The Breakfast Club” on Friday and spoke on the comments social media has been making about her sales and how they believed Beyonce should have shown more support. “I love Bey, and she’s supported my sis and I since we had our little locks on YouTube, so it’s all love over here.”

When DJ Envy followed up, asking how the reaction from social media made her feel, Bailey openly admitted that the comments hurt her feelings but “at least people are talking,” she added. “As much as people try and bring up numbers and things like that, I’m trending every other day. Marketing can’t buy that; a label can’t buy that. So people care enough to constantly have my name in their mouths, so I’m doing something right.”
As we previously revealed, Beyonce was getting a lot of scrutiny from people who felt perplexed that she didn’t promote Bailey’s album by not even giving it some recognition on her social media.
The argument made on Twitter was that if Bey had thrown her support behind the project publicly, perhaps the record would have performed better on the charts, while others contended that it’s not her responsibility to market an album just because she discovered Bailey.
Some users said that Beyonce helping Bailey land her management and record deal does not mean she is also expected to promote her music, adding that just because she didn’t post about it on social media doesn’t mean she didn’t do things behind the scenes in order to get the album the attention it needed to still be a success.
And like Bailey said in her interview, regardless of where the album charted, her fans have still shown up to her tour and sing all the lyrics to the songs lifted from the project.
When the album’s release was first announced back in February, a lot of people felt that the timing of its release wasn’t a good idea considering Bailey still hadn’t landed a hit single that captivated people enough for her to release a full body of work.
Needless to say, however, she’s clearly proud of the album and refuses to let other people’s negative thoughts dim her light.
