According to the New York Post, Shi Zhengli revealed that updated tests of blood samples taken several years ago from a group of miners who worked in bat caves. The miners became ill after working in the caves but their results showed they did not become infected with COVID-19.

Zhengli revealed the genetic components of the viruses she’s worked with did not match with the characteristics of the coronavirus in humans.

“In 2020, we compared the sequence of Sars-CoV-2 with our unpublished bat coronavirus sequences and found that it shared a 96.2 per cent identity with RaTG13,”
