Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, is beginning to ban users who flex their lavish lifestyles on the social media platform.

The company made the announcement on Friday where they will start banning users who continue to flaunt their wealth as content. “In order to promote rational consumption, a scientific and civilized lifestyle, and build a healthy, upward and valuable community atmosphere, Douyin has been continuously cleaning up multiple types of bad values and unhealthy lifestyle content through product and operation methods, and related accounts. Impose penalties,” Douyin said in a statement. Additionally, officials said they have cleaned up a total of “2,862 videos, 324 audios, and 47 topics will be cleaned up. , 3,973 related accounts were banned and penalized.”
Accounts that violate Douyin’s new policy will be banned from the app. This includes videos that promote flashing money, discriminating against other class groups, discussing how to purchase luxury goods to manipulate minors, and recording themselves shopping at high-end stores.
