A man in Zhengzhou, China, is seeking divorce after finding out that his wife spent their entire life savings—over $94,000—on a male streamer, according to Dexerto.

The man, identified as Mr. Liu, said he and his wife had been living frugally for nearly eight years, carefully saving money to secure their financial future. Liu explained that he trusted his wife to manage the family’s finances and sent most of his income to her to build their joint savings.

However, when he attempted to review the account, his wife allegedly refused to let him see the balance. After repeated questioning, she broke down and admitted that most of their 1.16 million yuan ($163,000) in savings was gone — with 670,000 yuan ($94,000) reportedly spent on a male livestreamer.

Wife Admitted to Sending Money and Borrowing Online Loans

According to Liu, his wife couldn’t explain where all of the remaining money had gone and confessed that she had also borrowed an additional 80,000 yuan ($11,200) through online lenders.

Liu told Henan TV that he had worked tirelessly to save money while living modestly. “I have been saving money on food and expenses and have offered all my money to her. However, she gave the money to another man,” he said.

The report revealed that the wife had become “obsessed” with the streamer, often sending him money and interacting with him during live sessions. Screenshots shared with local media showed her referring to the streamer affectionately, even asking him to call her “baby”—though the two never met in person.

Mr. Liu Plans to Recover Funds and File for Divorce

Mr. Liu told local media that he intends to recoup as much of the family’s lost money as possible before proceeding with his divorce filing.

He also plans to pursue shared assets under common property laws to protect any remaining funds.
