Children’s Book Author And Husband Arrested For Imprisoning And Starving Their Adopted Children For Weeks

A Florida children’s author and her husband have been arrested for allegedly abusing their adopted children.

The couple, Jennifer and Joseph Wolfthal, was arrested Tuesday after the children were abused and imprisoned in their home as reported by the New York Post. Jennifer was arrested on New Year’s Day hours after her husband went to the hospital with their 8-year-old child. Casselberry authorities reported the malnourished child had severe medical conditions such as a staph infection, liver failure, and pneumonia along with skin infections. Additionally, the children were locked in their room for weeks without food and baths.

Jennifer was the author of the children’s book “A Real Friend” and she also told authorities that her child’s injuries were a result of falling and other incidents.

The couple each face a charge of aggravated child abuse and child endangerment. Joseph is being held on a $210,000 bond while Jennifer is being held without bail. The two of the children were placed in foster care while the 8-year-old is receiving treatment for their injuries.
