CBS Local reports 18-year-old Orlando Perez shot and killed 37-year-old Selena Reyes-Hernandez on May 31 after meeting her at her home that morning. Prosecutors say the teen became enraged after Hernandez revealed she was transgender and left the home. Moments later, he came back with a gun and shot her in the head and back. Perez left the home for the second time and returned to fire more bullets into her chest, neck, and hand.
The woman’s family later discovered her body after hearing noises from the basement. It is currently unclear how Perez and Hernandez initially met but investigators are putting the pieces together using surveillance footage from several homes.
