Chicago R&B Singer Ann Marie Charged In Shooting Of Male Friend In Atlanta Hotel Room
Interscope Records signee and Chicago R&B singer/songwriter Ann Marie, full name Joann Marie Slater, has been charged in the December 1 shooting of her male friend in an Atlanta hotel room.
The incident unfolded last Tuesday when police responded to a call to the InterContinental Buckhead Hotel and found the 25-year-old “Secret” singer dressed in a bathrobe, and her 24-year-old childhood friend (who social media believes is her “side boyfriend”) Sandillo Wright, who identified himself to police as Jonathan Wright, “conscious” and bleeding on the floor with a gunshot wound to his head. Defending herself, Slater denied pulling the trigger, instead claiming the “gun fell off a table in the room” and accidentally discharged, hitting the victim in the forehead.

The police report also reveals, “a projectile was also found by the bathroom door on the carpet and one in the bathroom tub. There was one bullet hole in the door jam, and also one in the cabinet top right corner in the bathroom.” Wright was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital, “conscious and breathing.” On Wednesday (Dec. 2), the “Drip” singer was booked into Fulton County Jail and has been charged with two felonies — aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm.
