During TNT’s tip-off show Tuesday Barkley, spoke about how the Nets star will continue to make million this season while not playing due to his unvaccinated status under New York’s COVID-19 mandate.

“The only thing that bugs me is he’s still going to make $17 million sitting at home,” Barkley said. “I really am proud of the Nets for putting their foot down — for saying ‘no, we’re not going to deal with this half on, half off [situation],’” the Hall of Famer said about the Nets decision to ban Irving from the team until he agrees to the states vaccine mandate.

Due to the mandate in the state of New York Irving will not be paid the home games that he misses, which are 41 home games out of 82. But he will continue to be paid for the away games. According to reports, which still will leave Kyrie Irving ending the season off with 19 million with not even touching the court.

Barkley went a little more into detail with how he felt about Irving’s decision by saying, “First of all, you don’t get the vaccine for yourself, you get it for other people. I got vaccinated, I can’t wait to get the booster,” Barkley shared. “You don’t get vaccinated just for yourself. Like Adam [Silver] said, you get vaccinated for your family first, you get vaccinated for your teammates second. That’s what bothers me about this whole thing.”
