Charlamagne Tha God has shared his thoughts on “The Wendy Williams Show” coming to an end, expressing that he did not like the way his former boss and friend was treated as she bid farewell to her long-running chat show without being considered to make an appearance for her final episode.
Last month, Wendy told the New York Post that she liked “nothing” about the way her show ended and that producers didn’t even approach her to make one last appearance to sign off on the syndicated program that had entertained millions of viewers for over a decade. Now, Charlamagne is speaking out, having told Extra that he didn’t like the way in which Wendy’s departure was handled.

“I didn’t like the way [the “Wendy Williams Show”] ended because I don’t want to see her go out like that,” The Breakfast Club co-host said. “I want to see her go out healthy and on her own terms,” he said, likening Williams’ TV situation to “a basketball player or football player” who’s “one of the greatest of all time, but their career ends in injury.”
Wendy was absent for the entirety of her final season, with her initial hiatus being blamed on her Graves Disease condition. During this time, producers welcomed a string of celebrities to host the show before bringing Sherri Shepherd onboard as the former radio personality’s replacement.
Then, in February, it was announced that Sherri had landed her very own talk show titled “Sherri,” which will not only be premiering in the fall but also take over the time slot previously held by “The Wendy Williams Show.”
And though Wendy had publicly stressed in social media videos that she was healthy and doing better, it almost seemed as if executives at her show were not interested in bringing her back, particularly since they presumably had already moved on with plans to have Sherri take over the hosting duties permanently starting in the fall.
Moreover, Charlamagne, who at one point shared a very close friendship with Wendy, concluded that he “wants to see her get healthy, and get back in whatever position she chooses to be in… I want her to go out the way she deserves.”
