Chanel West Coast Blames Nicki Minaj For Stopping Her Bag With Lil Wayne’s Young Money Label
While many know Chanel West Coast from being the giggly host on MTV’s ‘Ridiculousness,’ she also had an early foray in music–and still does! Some years ago, she was once signed to Lil Wayne‘s Young Money label, but quickly parted ways and now she’s blaming Nicki Minaj for stopping her bag.
For years Chanel hasn’t directly stated why she split from the label and what exactly happened inside, but there was always talk about Nicki not wanting her involved with the business. Back in 2019, Chanel seemingly confirmed the rumors on No Jumper. She said, “From what I heard, conflicts of interests, they had to stop managing me. I don’t know if [Nicki] is jealous but I don’t know if she supports other women that much… I was never vocal about that until Cardi [B] went hard and I was like ‘f**k it,’ if Cardi’s gonna go hard and blast her, why shouldn’t I blast what I’ve been through.”

Speaking with Shirley’s Temple, Chanel doubles down on the Nicki talk and says, “It didn’t work out because, basically, it was more because of certain people really not feeling me being part of the clique.” When host Shirley Ju mentions Nicki, Chanel says, “Yeah, yeah, it was that. But I don’t really wanna talk about that because it’s really old. I’m really grateful that Wayne f**ked with me and gave me a co-sign and was like, be part of my clique, but yeah, I can’t control what happened. So many different politics that people don’t know behind the scenes.”
