Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx is currently recovering following a medical emergency earlier this week. As we previously reported, his daughter Corinne Foxx shared on Instagram Wednesday night explaining that her father had experienced a “medical complication,” adding that he is “on his way to recovery.”
The statement written on behalf of the Foxx family read, “We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday. Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers,” it continued. “The family asks for privacy during this time.”
She did not specify what happened medically. However, a source with knowledge of the event said Foxx was not transported by an emergency vehicle and it did not take place while on set of the Netflix film, “Back in Action,” which Fox has been currently filming. Alan Nierob, who is a spokesman for Jamie Foxx, also declined to share any further details than what Corinne Foxx provided on her Instagram account. “Nothing more, at this time, than what was posted,” he told CNN by email Wednesday.
However, on Friday, another close source shared that he remains hospitalized in Georgia and is under close observation. “They are running tests and still trying to figure out what exactly happened,” the individual said.
As he continues to recover, many fans and celebrity friends have been sending him prayers and encouraging words. Actress Kerry Washington took to Instagram on Thursday to share a throwback photo from the red carpet of their 2004 film “Ray.” She said, “A @iamjamiefoxx appreciation post,” Washington captioned the post. “Sending you all the love and prayers my movie huzbin 🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾”.
NBA legend LeBron James added, “Sending my thoughts and prayers to the heavens above to my brother @iamjamiefoxx!!!! Get well and back to yourself SOONER THAN LATER! God willing.”
Viola Davis also posted a photo of the duo to her own feed. She said, “Get well,” she captioned the pic. “We need you…. your light, your brilliance. ❤”
