CDC Warns Of “Worst Fall Ever” In Public Health Disasters
The CDC is warning that we could have the worst fall ever in terms of public health disasters if COVID-19 guidelines are not followed.
“For your country right now and for the war that we’re in against COVID, I’m asking you to do four simple things: wear a mask, social distance, wash your hands and be smart about crowds,” Dr. Robert Redfield, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said to WebMD.
“I’m not asking some of America to do it. We all gotta do it.”
He added that if the public does not adhere to safe health practices, “the worst fall, from a public health perspective, we’ve ever had,” he said.
“At one point in time in April, early May, 27% of all deaths in the United States [were] caused by pneumonia, influenza, or a COVID-like [illness],” Redfield said, adding that COVID-19 will be a “major cause of death” in the U.S. this year.
The news comes as 166,000 fatalities totaled nationwide with a constant increase in infection cases. As of Thursday, over 5.2M people have been infected with the virus.
Researchers also suggest that getting the flu vaccine can help against the virus!
“By getting vaccinated, you can protect your children,” Redfield said. “When we look at the mortality that we see with flu, one thing is for certain — the kids that get vaccinated, they basically get protected against death.”
#Socialites stay masked up so we can successfully fight this together.
