CDC Chief Warns of ‘Impending Doom’ as Covid-19 Cases & Deaths Rise
While the U.S slowly reopens and vaccinations increase, the threat of the Coronavirus is still out there.
A top CDC specialist has shared that there is a “recurring feeling I have of impending doom” as the infection rate continues to rise.
Dr. Rochelle Walensky, the CDC director, said at a White House briefing that COVID-19 cases have gone up by 10% and that deaths are still in excess of 1,000 a day.
“Right now I’m scared,” Walensky said. “When we see that uptick in case what what we have seen before is that things really have a tendency to surge and to surge big.”
Per the CDC, as of now, the U.S. has over 30.2 million COVID-19 cases and 549,000 deaths. 180.6 million vaccine doses have been given out in the U.S. and 143.4 million have been administered.

“This study shows that our national vaccination efforts are working,” CDC’s Rochelle Walensky said. “These findings should offer hope to millions of Americans receiving COVID-19 vaccines each day and to those who will have the opportunity to roll up their sleeves and get vaccinated in the weeks ahead.”
