This Monday, the Washington Redskins announced that they will change their team name and logo after about 87 years of using it. This comes in the wake of corporate and public pressure to scrub the moniker over racial connotations.
“On July 3rd, we announced the commencement of a thorough review of the team’s name. That review has begun in earnest. Today, we are announcing we will be retiring the Redskins name and logo upon completion of this review.
“Dan Snyder and Coach Rivera are working closely to develop a new name and design approach that will enhance the standing of our proud, tradition rich franchise and inspire our sponsors, fans and community for the next 100 years.” A new name for the team is expected to be revealed later this Monday.

Earlier this Friday, Sampaio confirmed she was named a 2020 Rookie for the publication’s upcoming swimsuit issue, which will be out July 21. The Brazilian native also said, “The team at SI has created yet another groundbreaking issue by bringing together a diverse set of multitalented, beautiful women in a creative and dignified way. I was born trans in a remote, humble fishing village in northern Brazil. Brazil is a beautiful country, but it also hosts the highest number of violent crimes and murders against the trans community in the world — three times that of the U.S.,” she continued.
Sampaio concluded: “Being trans usually means facing closed doors to peoples’ hearts and minds. We face snickers, insults, fearful reactions and physical violations just for existing. Our options for growing up in a loving and accepting family, having a fruitful experience at school or finding dignified work are unimaginably limited and challenging.”
In a penned essay on SI Swimsuit’s website, she also thanked the magazine “for seeing and respecting me as I truly am,” and “for understanding that more than anything, I am human.”
In the 56 years since its inception, the special edition has featured stars including Heidi Klum, Tyra Banks, and Ashley Graham, and each year it ushers in a new set of rookies from around the globe.
The actress finally sat herself down at her Red Table, shockingly with husband Will Smith, to set the record straight following Alsina’s first interview which sparked major controversy. As we previously reported, the 28-year-old spoke with “The Breakfast Club’s” Angela Yee and said Will gave him his “blessing” to have a relationship with Jada. Reps for both actors later denied Alsina’s claims, causing confusion.
However, in Friday’s episode of “Red Table Talk,” Jada explained that she and Will “were going through a very difficult time” and had broken up when she started a romantic relationship with Alsina. At the time, Jada thought their breakup was so bad that they “never ever thought that we would make it back.”

“Four and a half years ago… I started a friendship with August and we actually became really, really good friends,” she explained. “And it all started with him just needing some help, me wanting to help his health, his mental state. The outpouring for him from our family was initially about his health,” she said. “We found all those different resources to help pull him through and from there you and I were going through a very difficult time.”

She went on to say,
“From there as time went on I got into a different kind of entanglement with August. One thing I want to clean up… about you giving ‘permission’ which is… the only person that can give permission in that circumstance is myself,” she said. She continued, “But what August was probably trying to communicate because I could see how he could see it as permission because we were separated amicably, and I think he wanted to make it clear he’s not a homewrecker because he’s not.”
Will, who was slightly taken back by her “entanglement” comment, asked her to clarify to which she said, “Yes, it was a relationship absolutely.”
Before concluding she explained,
“Through that particular journey, I learned so much about myself and was able to really confront a lot of emotional immaturity, emotional insecurity and I was really able to do some really deep healing,” Pinkett Smith said. “And as I came through and started to realize certain things about you and I, he decided to break all communication with me which was totally understandable. And I let that be and hadn’t talked to him since so it is a little weird that all this stuff is coming out now since this was several [years ago].”

Unanue made it clear that he is not apologizing for his remarks supporting Trump’s economic policy and would not turn down other future invitations.
