President Of Broward County PBA Tries To Get Black Prosecutor Dismissed For Sharing His Thoughts On Police Brutality & Police Reform

President Of Broward County PBA Tries To Get Black Prosecutor Dismissed For Sharing His Thoughts On Police Brutality & Police Reform

We are starting to see small changes following the nationwide protests against police brutality which sparked after the death of George Floyd. Many people are urging each other to still keep the momentum going to push for even more change, and one Florida prosecutor has already started drafting up a plan!

Jeffrey Chukwuma, who often goes typically by “Caesar,” is a prosecutor from the Office of the State Attorney’s 17th Judicial Circuit in Broward County. He recently shared a list that he and his brother came up with as a “starting point” for reforms. Chukwuma shared eight suggestions aimed at holding police officers accountable to improve relations with the community. He shared some interesting suggestions like “all cops must be required to wear bodycams” and if they do not have footage from their backup device, a “suspect should walk immediately.” Now again, these were just suggestions and Chukwuma did not state that violent criminals should walk free if incidents are not caught on bodycams, as some news sites claimed he said.

Chukwuma has also made it clear that he is “speaking as a private citizen and not on behalf of his job,” and has “zero bias against police officers.” Despite that, Broward County PBA President Rod Skirvin, who was made aware of Caesar’s online post, wrote a letter to State Attorney Mike Satz asking for Chukwuma; a concerned American, to be dismissed for sharing his ideas on social media.

In a letter addressed to Michael J. Satz, Skirvin expressed his concerns and noted that Satz’s office recently terminated another prosecutor for what she posted online:

“You recently terminated a prosecutor for a social media post that bore no relation to perform adequately her job. Since then, another one [of] your prosecutors – Mr. Jeffrey Chukwuma – made a more alarming post that should lead to his dismissal.”

Prosecutor

According to the The Sun-Sentinel, the prosecutor Rod Skirvin is referring to is Amy Bloom. She reportedly lost her job just hours of going on Facebook for calling anti-police brutality demonstrators “obnoxious protesters” and “animals.” After deleting her original post, she explained in another that she was referring only to violent demonstrators and looters.

To note, Chukwuma did not give rouge officers a bad or insulting label and did not encourage his followers to demand any police department to implement any of his suggestions. Many of his followers even commended him for “brainstorming.”

Now despite the minor backlash from Skirvin, The Broward State Attorney’s Office rightfully stood behind Chukwuma:

“Mr. Chukwuma expressed to us that he was trying to articulate reforms that could be made to cause greater transparency, and therefore increase credibility of law enforcement in our community,” Satz wrote in a reply to Skirvin. “Mr. Chukwuma advised us that his suggestions were aspirational and in no way indicate a bias against police.”

Fox News Apologizes For On-Screen Chart Showing Stock Gains After Killings Of Black Men

For some odd reason, Fox News displayed an on-screen chart showing stock-market gains in the wake of infamous killings of Black men.

RELATED: Three Other Officers Involved In The Killing Of George Floyd Have Been CHARGED With Aiding And Abetting Murder

During Friday’s segment of “Special Report with Bret Baier, correspondent Susan Li took over to talk about the stock market. Li explained to viewers:  “Stock markets hitting new highs despite the nationwide protests this week, historically there has been a disconnect between what investors focus on and what happens across the rest of the country. For instance, in 1968, the week after the tragedy of Martin Luther King, the S&P 500 rose over 2%, also up the week after the Rodney King ruling, and Wall Street trading on the reopening instead, this year in 2020,” Deadline quotes.

Apparently, other publications such as Fortune and The Wall Street Journal, have used similar data in stories on stock market reaction to the unrest. However, Fox caught major backlash for their latest coverage. The former chairman of the Republican National Committee even wrote on Twitter, “This is how they mourn the loss of black men at #FoxNews – by how much the stock market goes up. What. The. Hell!,” Michael Steele. Fox News is now apologizing for their insensitive move:

“The infographic used on Fox News Channel’s ‘Special Report’ to illustrate market reactions to historic periods of civil unrest should have never aired on television without full context.”

The Fox Corporation-owned outlet went on to say, “We apologize for the insensitivity of the image and take this issue seriously,”

The two Buffalo officers who were seen in a graphic video shoving a 75-year-old man during a protest, have been arrested and are now facing criminal charges.

Law enforcement sources told ABC News that the charges against officer Aron Torglaski and Robert McCabe will not be unsealed until after their arraignment on Saturday. However, TMZ reports that they’ve been hit with 2nd-degree felony assault.

The arrests come after 57 Buffalo officers resigned from the special squad in solidarity with the 2 cops who were suspended for the incident. While Mayor Byron Brown seemed to justify the incident of police brutality during a Friday news conference where he referred to the victim, Martin Gugino as an “agitator,” others said he’s been known for being a peaceful protester.

ABC News reports that the man is now in stable condition at Erie County Medical Center.

Blac Chyna Calls Out NBC — Accuses Them Of Racism Amid Ongoing ‘Rob & Chyna’ Lawsuit

Just one day after Gabrielle Union filed a discrimination complaint against NBC, Blac Chyna is now calling out the network.

Chyna is accusing NBC of racism after the model and reality star claims she was never made aware of allegations made against her by the Kardashian Family, which ended her reality show “Rob & Chyna” on E! As we reported, back in 2017, Chyna sued the entire Kardashian family claiming they interfered with her reality show by lobbying to producers and the network to cancel it.

Chyna’s attorney, Lynne Ciani released a statement to Page Six where they claim that Chyna was “completely denied” any due process by the network to their “black reality TV star.” She also alleges that if she were a white actress either the allegations would have never been made or the situation would have been handled differently. E! is owned by the NBCUniversal Television.

“No one at NBCUniversal ever informed Chyna that Kris Jenner had secretly accused her of severely beating Rob. Next, without Chyna’s knowledge, Kris Jenner and three of her daughters (Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, and Kylie Jenner) were able to convince E! executives that they needed to convene an emergency meeting to discuss the cancellation of Season 2 of ‘Rob & Chyna’ based on the false accusation that Chyna had severely beaten Rob,” Chyna’s lawyer, Lynne Ciani, told Page six.

She went on to say, “NBCUniversal executives never invited Chyna, the allegedly violent cast member (and also an Executive Producer of ‘Rob & Chyna’), to the emergency meeting.”

Chyna’s legal team also notes that if anyone from the network actually watched footage shot from Season 2 of the reality show, they would have seen it confirms she did not put hands on her ex-fiancé, Rob Kardashian.

Her lawyer said in a new statement that NBC Executives “never viewed the existing unaired Season 2 footage … that conclusively proves that Kris Jenner lied when she claimed that Chyna had ‘beat the —- out of Rob’s face,’” The Blast quotes.

Her team adds, “had Chyna been a white reality TV star, rather than the ‘unicorn’ black reality TV star — either (Jenner) never would have been made in the first place or her false accusation would have been quickly investigated by E! and NBCUniversal and proven false.”

This all comes as the network faces a discrimination complaint by Gabrielle Union.

I’m doing this for me, for my family, and for my country,” Ohanian said. In his Twitter thread, he further explained, “I’ve resigned as a member of the Reddit board, I have urged them to fill my seat with a black candidate, + I will use future gains on my Reddit stock to serve the black community, chiefly to curb racial hate, and I’m starting with a pledge of $1M to @kaepernick7’s @yourrightscamp.” He added, “I believe resignation can actually be an act of leadership from people in power right now. To everyone fighting to fix our broken nation: do not stop.”

Ohanian also shared a tweet linking to his blog where he went on to explain why he made this decision: “I’m writing this as a father who needs to be able to answer his black daughter when she asks: ‘What did you do?'” Ohanian wrote.

As CNBC reports, Ohanian co-founded Reddit back in 2005. After selling the company to Conde Nast in 2006, Ohanian and co-founder Steve Huffman returned to the company full time in 2015. In 2018, he stepped back from a day-to-day role while continuing to serve on the board.

His big move comes after protests that have swept the nation in the last week in response to the killing of George Floyd. People on social media have been commending the 37-year-old for his big decision.
