While Vivian’s friend and business partner Don Rivers confirmed the news to The Associated Press, Vivian’s daughter, Denise Morse, also talked about her dad’s passing to Atlanta’s NBC affiliate WXIA. She remembered him, as was “one of the most wonderful men who ever walked the earth.”

According to NBC News, the civil rights titan suffered a stroke two months ago. He seemed to be on the mend before “he just stopped eating” and died of natural causes, Don Rivers explained.

“He has always been one of the people who had the most insight, wisdom, integrity, and dedication,” former Atlanta Mayor Andrew Young, a contemporary of Vivian who also worked alongside King said.

Vivian Met Dr. King during the 1955 Montgomery bus boycott – a demonstration made famous by Rosa Parks’ refusal to give up her seat to a white rider. Vivian went on to become an active early member of the group that eventually became the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, the news site reports.

In 2013, President Barack Obama honored the great Vivian with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor. The pastor remained an advocate for justice and equality well into his advanced years.

He will be missed.

Nia Long Says She ‘Feels Bad’ For Will Smith And Jada Pinkett Smith

Nia Long Says She ‘Feels Bad’ For Will Smith And Jada Pinkett Smith

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the stars of the upcoming film “Fatal Affair” weighed in on all the latest drama surrounding Jada Pinkett-Smith and Will Smith.

RELATED: Will Smith Reportedly Felt ‘More Of The Pressure’ To Make Marriage To Jada Pinkett Smith Work

As we previously reported, Jada dropped her highly anticipated episode of “Red Table Talk” last week where she sat down with her husband as she acknowledged that she had a past relationship with singer August Alsina when she and Will were temporarily separated. While many people commended the couple for opening up about their relationship publicly, it didn’t sit right with some fans.

However, actress Nia Long has decided to share her thoughts on it all, and let’s just say she’s still #TeamJadaAndWill! Long, 49, who has worked with Will on the “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” said “I feel bad for Will and Jada right now, because they’ve been extremely vulnerable with their personal story. And it takes a lot of courage to do that,” She went on to say, “When you have a show like Red Table Talk, you want to be what you are sharing with the world, and that’s gotta be a tremendous amount of pressure,” Long explained. “We all have our ups and downs with love. Love is a complicated thing.” She also made note that Smith is “an icon in our community” and said she wishes the public would just “back off and leave them alone.”

While speaking with ET’s Nischelle Turner, Ling also gave some helpful advice:

“I think any key to any relationship is, give your partner the room to be who he needs to be, who she needs to be, and if it means you’re taking a break to do that? Take the break!” shared Long. “I know I sometimes just leave the house and I don’t tell anyone where I’m going and I’m like, OK guys I’ll be back. Because I’ve learned that if I don’t take care of myself first, nothing else in the house runs smoothly.”
