Two years ago, Cardi B was performing at Drai’s Beachclub. Cardi B previously claimed that during the August 2023 event she asked fans in the crowd to throw water at her to beat the scorching three-digit heat.

Subsequently, one woman in the audience threw water at Cardi, claiming she was following others in the crowd. However, upon tossing the water, Cardi B was accused of forcefully throwing her microphone at the fan. In an interview with ‘The Breakfast Club,’ Cardi B recalled asking fans to playfully toss water on her. However, she claims the fan in this case threw the water about 4 to 5 songs later.

Cardi B Cleared Of Criminal Charges In 2023 Microphone-Throwing Incident In Las Vegas

At the time, TMZ reported that the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department launched a criminal battery investigation. Tey reported that authorities listed Cardi B as a suspect. However, TMZ later updated that the investigation was dropped. Cardi B’s lawyer, Drew Findling, David Chesnoff, and Richard Schonfeld, released a statement to the news outlet saying:

“This afternoon we were notified by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department that as a result of their investigation, there will be NO charges against Cardi. On behalf of Cardi, we appreciate the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Dept’s diligent and prompt resolution of this matter.”

TMZ reported that the case never made it to the District Attorney’s desk, so Cardi was ultimately cleared of any criminal charges. Then, it was learned that an audio production company that owned the microphone decided to auction off the infamous piece of equipment.

They mentioned that the funds would go to charities like the Wounded Warrior Project and Friendship Circle Las Vegas, which aids teens and young adults with special needs. The mic ended up selling for nearly $100,000.

Cardi B Sued For Assault, Battery, Negligence, Emotional Distress Over 2023 Microphone-Throwing Incident In Las Vegas

Two years after the initial microphone-throwing incident in Las Vegas, a woman, filing as Jane Doe, is suing Cardi B for assault, battery, negligence, and even says the microphone being auctioned off for charity — which we reported on — sent her into an emotional spiral of distress. Cardi’s attorney, Drew Findling responded to the civil lawsuit, calling it a pitiful attempt to finally shakedown the rapper. Findling told TMZ:

“The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Clark County District Attorney’s Office closed this matter for insufficient evidence a long time ago, but apparently the opportunity to try to make money off of a celebrity was too much for some willing law firm to pass up.”
