To keep you up to speed, former security guard Emani Ellis filed a lawsuit against Cardi in 2020 for assault, battery, and infliction of emotional distress. Ellis claims the Bronx rapper attacked her at a Beverly Hills medical office when Cardi was pregnant with her first child. But Cardi insists she never laid a finger on the woman.
The trial officially began on Monday, with Cardi taking the stand Tuesday to finally tell her side of the story. In her testimony, she described walking into the Beverly Hills office for a routine check-up when the security guard spotted her. Cardi says Ellis then followed her, recording with her phone as she tried to move through the building.
Cardi B’s Testimony: “It Was Only Verbal Jabs”
When pressed about the altercation, Cardi admitted she got upset and cursed during the heated moment. “I called her a b*tch,” Cardi said, adding that she and Ellis got “chest to chest.” However, she stood firm that the situation never turned physical.
Cardi explained that Ellis was the aggressor, not her. The rapper claims the security guard escalated things by following and filming her during a private moment. Cardi made it clear: their confrontation was strictly verbal, and no punches were ever thrown.
Meanwhile, Ellis testified on Monday that Cardi swung at her and even scratched her cheek with her long nails. But Cardi clapped back on the stand, pointing out that she wouldn’t have even tried to attack Ellis since Ellis is “way bigger” than her.
