As we previously shared, Sonya Massey was a 36-year-old unarmed Black woman in Illinois who called 9-1-1 to report a possible prowler and ended up fatally shot by a White Sheriff’s Deputy in her own home on July 6, 2024. She was gunned down by Sangamon County Sherrif’s Deputy Sean Grayson, who claimed he feared for his life while responding to the call at Massey’s home. In addition to calling her a “f***ing crazy b*tch,” he said she intentionally threw a pot of hot water on him, resulting in her death, since ruled a homicide.

Since Massey’s death, it’s also been learned that hat the man arrested and indicted in Sonya Massey’s murder, Sangamon County Sherrif’s Deputy Sean Grayson, was previously discharged from the Army for “serious misconduct” and went on to hold down six different police jobs.

Military records show that Grayson — who previously worked at the Kincaid Police Department — was serving at Fort Riley in Kansas when the Army discharged him in 2016, citing “Misconduct (Serious Offense).” According to NBC News, Army spokesman Bryce Dubee, Grayson had been a “wheeled vehicle mechanic from May 2014 to February 2016, but declined to provide further details about his discharge.”

On Saturday (July 27), former President Donald Trump and his running mate, Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH), held their first joint presidential rally in Minnesota. At the event at St. Cloud’s Herb Brooks Arena — which arrives just two weeks after Trump’s assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania and three weeks after Sonya Massey’s police-involved murder — Donald Trump again promised to bring about “federal immunity” for police officers.

At the rally, Trump to his supporters, “We’re going to give immunity to police, so they can do their job. We’re giving federal immunity to police officers, so they can do their job.” Reacting to Donald Trump’s “federal immunity to police officers” promise, Bronx rapper Cardi B revealed her shock, especially after the recent police-involved murder of Sonya Massey.”

Cardi retweeted the viral clip and said, “AFTER WATCHING SONYA MASSEY GET KILLED IN 4K? … Just wow … He never changed.” Another user replied and said, “You thought he did?,” to which the rapper replied, “Nope. He just tone downed his racism and fooled a lot of Y’ALL to endorse and wear his dirty a** hate until it’s crunch time.” Another user brought up Cardi previously claiming she wasn’t going to vote for either Joe Biden or Donald Trump

Now, this isn’t the first or second time that Trump has made this promise. At his rally in Waterford Township, Michigan in February 2024, Trump said, “I’m going to indemnify all police officers and law enforcement officials throughout the U.S. to protect them from being destroyed by the radical left … Once [criminals] see things happening that they never thought would happen to them, it’ll all stop overnight.”

Then in April 2024, at another campaign event, Donald Trump again promised “federal immunity to police.” He said, “We have to get law and order back and these are the best people in the world. They will know … the sheriffs behind … This is in all states. Somebody asked me, ‘How do you get criminals out?’ I said, ‘The sheriffs, the police officers. The police/law enforcement, in their local communities, they know every bad kid and they know every bad person. They know their first name, their middle name, and their phone numbers, they have their cell phones, they know everything about them. They know exactly what to do and how to do it.”

Motioning to the several members of law enforcement behind him, Trump continued, “These guys know exactly what I’m talking about, but we have to let them do their job. And we’re going to work out a federal immunity for police so they’re allowed to do their job without losing their house and their pension, and everything else when the liberal governors and mayors don’t back them.”
