One thing about Cardi B, she always keeps it real which is why it’s no surprise she’s keeping it all the way 100 about her hair journey. In a new cover story for WWD, Cardi talks about what it was like before the flawless installs and expensive wigs — just a young girl in the Bronx trying to make sense of hair that didn’t match what she saw as “perfect.”

“So I’m not even gonna lie, when I was younger, I really used to hate my hair,” she said. “My cousins, they had really long hair — like the Disney princesses, they had really long hair,” she said. Meanwhile, her own hair journey felt like a constant struggle to fit in.

Cardi went on to explain, “Not only was my hair really coarse, but it was really short,” Cardi explained.“I used to really hate my hair texture, because when I put gel on my hair, instead of being flat, it just kind of crinkles.” That frustration pushed her toward wanting straighter, more “manageable” hair at a young age. After trying everything from perms, bleach, box dyes and then eventually a big chop, Cardi eventually found her way back to healthy hair and that was through consistency and the homemade treatments she grew up on, which has led to something even greater: her new hair care brand, Grow-Good Beauty.

“I made Grow-Good because I really put the work in on my hair,” Cardi said. “I was doing my own masks in my kitchen, using what I already knew from my family’s recipes and what I learned from my own research. I really took my time to get my hair looking healthy again after years of damage. And guess what? It worked. Now I wanna share my hair journey with everybody.”

More On Cardi’s Grow-Good:

Now, Cardi B isn’t just stepping into beauty, she’s building something major with her new hair care line, created alongside Revolve Group as part of a bigger lifestyle move. And she didn’t come to play. The team behind this is stacked, with Revolve cofounders Michael Mente and Mike Karanikolas, plus chief brand officer Raissa Gerona all in the mix.

Cardi also brought her day-ones with her, including longtime manager Patientce Foster and stylist Kollin Carter, along with branding experts Jennifer Walker and Adam Drawas. Altogether, they’re not just dropping products, they’re aiming to build a whole billion-dollar empire rooted in fashion, beauty, and lifestyle, WWD notes.

The line officially drops April 15, with presale kicking off March 24 on growgood.beauty, and it’s all about getting your hair back healthy and thriving. Every product is centered on repair, using this plant-based complex called Fiberlace to strengthen strands and bring that shine back.

You’ve got Wash Cycle and Wash Cycle+ shampoos ($14.99) and Soft Serve and Soft Serve+ conditioners ($14.99), all designed for different levels of hydration and repair. Then there’s the Get Rich mask ($19.99), inspired by Cardi’s own kitchen-made mixes with avocado, coconut, banana, and aloe, plus the Everything Serum ($17.99) to protect from heat and humidity while sealing those ends.

Everything is clean, vegan, and cruelty-free, but what really makes it hit different is how it taps into the Dominican hair care traditions Cardi grew up on, making this whole launch feel personal, not just business.
