Cardi B Covering Funeral Costs For Victims Of Deadly Bronx Apartment Fire: “I Send My Prayers And Condolences To Everyone Affected By This Horrific Tragedy”
On January 9th, a fire ripped through a 120-unit apartment building in The Bronx taking the lives of 17 people while sending several other people to the hospital. Sadly, the victims ranged in age from just 2 years old to 50.

Fire officials believe a broken space heater caused the blaze. However, it was noted that two interior doors were left open and allowed smoke to fill the building. Officials say those doors were supposed to have been closed, and are investigating why regulations weren’t followed.
Bronx native Cardi B is stepping up to help the victims’ families. The rap star has committed to pay for the funeral and burial costs of those killed. Cardi told TMZ, “I cannot begin to imagine the pain and anguish that the families of the victims are experiencing, but I hope that not having to worry about the costs associated with burying their loved ones will help as they move forward and heal.”
She added, “I send my prayers and condolences to everyone affected by this horrific tragedy.”
According to her rep, the artist partnered up with The Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City to make sure that the families of all the victims would be included in her donation and “that the final wishes for their loved ones were met.”
