California Wildfire That Killed 2 Began After A Man Torched The Body Of A Woman He Murdered

According to officials in Northern California, a wildfire that began in August 2020, which killed 2, was created after a man torched the body of a woman he murdered — all as a way to cover up his heinous crime.

Vacaville police say Vallejo native Victor Serriteno, 29, who was arrested in September and charged with the murder of Priscilla Castro, 32, will now face two more murder charges and arson charges  — this after the fire he set to burn Castro’s body sparked a blaze that became known as The Markley Fire, which took place around Solano County.

It’s reported that Serriteno’s wildfire killed two other people, Douglas Mai, 82, and Leon “James” Bone, 64, who were found dead inside their homes last year. Sheriff Tom Ferrara says, “Based on an extensive eight-month investigation, we believe Serriteno deliberately set the Markley Fire in an attempt to conceal his crime.” It’s said that the Markley Fire merged with the Hennessy Fire, which eventually became a part of the massive LNU Lightning Complex — which burned more than 363,000 acres across five counties, destroyed more than 1,500 structures, and killed six.
