California Theme Parks Can Open April 1
As states across the U.S begin to fully reopen, California takes small steps amidst the Coronavirus pandemic, and now the state’s theme parks will be allowed to reopen at a reduced capacity on April 1.
“Throughout the pandemic, California’s business community has been committed to protecting the health and safety of workers and customers — and that won’t change now,” Dee Dee Myers, senior advisor to Gov. Gavin Newsom. “We will continue to work together with our partners across all sectors of the economy as we reopen safely, sustainably and equitably.”
According to ABC News, Dr. Mark Ghaly, secretary of California Health and Human Services, said that Theme parks can open at 15% capacity as the counties they are located in enter the state’s red tier designation. The Attendance will also be limited to in-state visitors.
“With case rates and hospitalizations significantly lower, the arrival of three highly effective vaccines and targeted efforts aimed at vaccinating the most vulnerable communities, California can begin gradually and safely bringing back more activities, especially those that occur outdoors and where consistent masking is possible.”
Stadiums and outdoor concert venues may also reopen.
