A California mother who claims that her daughter was “socially transitioned” to act as a boy without parental consent while at school has reached a $100,000 settlement with the California school district.

Jessica Konen claims her daughter was questioning her gender identity and it was reportedly told by the school district that she needed to find out who she “truly was inside.” That’s when Konen went on to claim that her daughter was told to use the boy’s restroom and was addressed by male pronouns, according to Fox News. Konen, who had not been notified by the school of her daughter’s “transition,” sued the Spreckels Union School District after finding out that Alicia had been identifying as male while at school. Konen says since this incident her daughter has re-identified herself as a girl.

Konen spoke with Fox News and said that she will continue to fight for parental rights. “They need to understand their place, and they need to stay in their place. And schools nowadays, they’re awful. So, I’m going to fight this fight and keep fighting this fight,” Konen told Fox News. “I am not going to allow this to keep happening to children,” Konen continued. “I feel that the fight, it has to continue.”

Known also claimed that her relationship with her daughter had been strained upon initial discovery of Alicia’s so-called “transition,” but the two have since made amends and are keen to cooperate in order to help eliminate “the parental secrecy” from schools.

“I think it took a lot of guts for both of us to be able to open up publicly and explain what is happening,” Konen said. “Parents, be vigilant, you know, pay attention. Those gut feelings you have, they’re real. I feel like this just opened doors.”

While the school district has not yet publicly commented on the matter, Konen told Fox News that she’s happy with the settlement and feels justified.
