Sacramento authorities are currently investigating the death of a resident who died hours after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.

Back in December, the unidentified person tested positive for coronavirus. On January 21, they took received the vaccine and died hours later but it was unclear if they were given the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine before their death. The Placer Sheriff’s County Office said in a statement that the vaccine was not administered by the Placer County Public Health.
“The individual was administered a COVID-19 vaccine several hours before their death on January 21, 2021. The vaccine was not administered by Placer County Public Health. There are multiple local, state, and federal agencies actively investigating this case; any reports surrounding the cause of death are premature, pending the outcome of the investigation. Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased.”

An autopsy will be performed by Monday to list the deceased’s official cause of death.
