California Middle School Closes After Assistant Principal Commits Suicide On Campus
A middle school in Placentia, California, which sits inside of Orange County, closed early for the day after its assistant principal tragically committed suicide on campus.
On Monday (Mar. 14), students and staff at Kraemer Middle School were sent home early after Assistant Principal Moises Plascencia apparently killed himself in a private staff area. Reportedly, there were no other persons present at the time of the incident. Upon discovery of his body, police were immediately called to campus and school operations were suspended for the rest of the day. It’s said that on Tuesday, regular scheduling will resume.
Speaking on the tragic incident, Principal Michael Young issued a message to the school community. It read, “Words will never be able to express our true sorrow regarding this loss. While we may never make sense of nor understand why this occurred, please know how deeply Mr. Plascencia cared for your students, their education, and all of Kraemer Middle School.” Additionally, the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District will be moving forward with bringing in mental health professionals to provide support to students, staff and families.
