A California man who recently went viral for “sniffing” a woman’s butt at a Barnes & Noble bookstore has been arrested. Prior to his capture, what made things worse was that the suspect is a repeat offender who was just arrested last week for peeping on children, but was released on probation; despite having a 40-count rap sheet including sex offenses.
The suspect has been identified as 37-year-old Calese Carron Crowder and video has since gone viral on TikTok, showing him following a woman and allegedly “sniffing” her butt. Per online jail records, Crowder has reportedly been arrested in Los Angeles County at least 42 times and has continuously been released.

His slew of arrests, reportedly dating back to 2005, range from sex offenses to robbery and burglary convictions. And per reports, despite having been ordered to register as a sex offender, his name does not appear on the state’s registry as of Thursday (August 17), which will lead to his arrest.
As for this year, Crowder was first arrested on January 18 in Santa Clarita. He was charged with a misdemeanor and after his case was heard on February 27, he was released on March 15.
Then last Friday (August 11), Crowder was booked on a misdemeanor after police arrested him for allegedly peeping on a Glendale home with children inside on August 6. Online records show that Crowder’s case was adjudicated, and he was released on probation on Tuesday (August 15).
Prior to his August 11 arrest, on August 8 (two days after the child peeping incident), a Barnes & Noble shopper named Michaela Witter shared a video on TikTok of her encounter with Crowder. In the viral video taken at the bookstore’s Burbank location, the California man appears to follow her around the store, “sniffing” her behind.
In several videos, Witter warned her followers and people in the area, “Please be careful.” She said, “Is this real? I think he maybe spent three days in jail. They can’t do anything until he’s done something really bad to someone, and I’m honestly scared that that person is gonna be me.”
After Witter shared her experience with Crowder on her TikTok, she said at least 20 more women reached out and shared similar stories.
While out on probation as of this Tuesday, the video has continued to make its rounds, and as of today (Thursday, August 17), Crowder was arrested by Glendale Police on a misdemeanor charge. They report that the California man did not register as a sex offender, which is a violation of his probation terms, so he was arrested. His bail has been set at $20,000 and he is due in court on Friday (August 18).
