Caitlyn Clark is letting it be known that her main focus is strictly on the NCAA tournament right now after Ice Cube offered her $5 million to be apart of his Big3 organization.
The 22-year-old responded to the news during an interview on Friday afternoon where she seemingly shared that Ice Cube’s offer isn’t on her mind right now. “I honestly don’t talk about those things with really anybody,” Clark said. “I have other people that deal with it. They haven’t said a word to me about it. And, my main focus is on this team and helping us find a way to beat Colorado and hopefully win another one after that.”
Ice Cube recently made rounds on social media after he revealed that he was looking to offer the Iowa superstar some big money to be apart of his league. While speaking with Pat McAfee on Wednesday he shared, “This is a special situation, a special player that’s moving the needle in a lot of different areas, you know, ratings, attendance, ticket sales.” He added, “Of course, our sponsors are very interested in a player like this. This is our first look at planning to go after this aggressively because we know it would move the needle in the league and that’s where we wanna be.”
Ice Cube, the legendary rapper and actor, has always been known for pushing boundaries and breaking new ground in the entertainment industry. So it should come as no surprise that he decided to take on a new challenge by launching his own professional basketball league, the Big 3.
The Big 3 is a 3-on-3 basketball league that features former NBA players and other professional basketball players competing in half-court games. The league was founded by Ice Cube and entertainment executive Jeff Kwatinetz, and made its debut in the summer of 2017.
Ice Cube was inspired to start the Big 3 after years of playing in and attending various celebrity basketball games and tournaments. He saw the potential for a professional 3-on-3 league that could provide fans with a fast-paced, exciting alternative to traditional 5-on-5 basketball.
The Big 3 features eight teams, each with a roster of six players and a head coach. The teams compete in a 10-week season, culminating in a championship game where the winning team takes home the coveted Big 3 trophy.
One of the unique aspects of the Big 3 is its emphasis on old-school, physical basketball. The league allows hand-checking and has a four-point shot, adding an element of strategy and excitement to the games. The league also features a four-point circle, similar to the three-point line in traditional basketball, where players can attempt shots from beyond the arc.
Ice Cube has been heavily involved in the development and promotion of the Big 3, using his star power and influence to attract both fans and players to the league. He has been a visible presence at games, often sitting courtside and interacting with fans and players.
The Big 3 has been a resounding success, drawing large crowds and generating buzz in the sports world. The league has also provided a platform for former NBA players to showcase their skills and continue their basketball careers after retiring from the NBA.
Overall, Ice Cube’s Big 3 league has proven to be a groundbreaking and innovative addition to the world of professional basketball. With its unique format, competitive play, and star-studded roster of players, the Big 3 is poised to become a staple of the summer sports calendar for years to come. Ice Cube’s vision and commitment to the league have helped to make it a success, and fans can look forward to many more exciting seasons of Big 3 basketball in the future.
