Burna Boy has shared that Toni Braxton was given 60% of royalties from his single “Last Last,” which he released back in May. The track, which seemingly hears the 31-year-old address his split from his now ex-girlfriend Stefflon Don, heavily samples Toni’s 2000 hit, “He Wasn’t Man Enough,” throughout.
And during a recent interview with Wall267 and Gillie Da King, Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, explained how the song first came about, and, most importantly, how he was able to get it cleared. Apparently, he’d been wanting to sample Toni’s record for a while, so when the opportunity finally came about, he had his producer Chopsticks tweak parts to his liking while still keeping its original melody intact.

Burna, in a light-hearted manner, added, “She is taking 60% of the s**t. But I’m not complaining, man. Hopefully, she pops out at one of the shows.” “Last Last” is the second single lifted off the Nigerian singer’s upcoming sixth studio album, “Love, Damini,” which is released on July 8.
Back in December, the “On The Low” hitmaker confirmed his split from Stefflon Don, who he had been dating for three years. Taking to his Instagram Story, he wrote, “And FYI, Odogwu nor get wife,” which seemingly confirmed the Afrobeats superstar was once again single.
During their romance, there were plentiful reports suggesting infidelity had led to a string of rocky moments between the pair, though Stefflon nor Burna ever shed light on those claims. The “Hurtin Me” rapper did, however, respond to her ex’s message on Instagram, having clearly taken issue with how he was handling their split in view of his millions of fans.
She also appeared to have insinuated that the pair became disconnected over her significant other’s changing ways. “No matter how much love, Loyalty or how good you treat someone, people are just not solid and scream real but are the fakest,” Stefflon wrote. “Fame & money changes some ppl. When people show you who they are believe them. As hard as that may be. God sees and knows. People genuinely need prayers.”
A woman named Jo Pearl had previously come forward and alleged she had an affair with Burna while he was still with Stefflon. And while she was said to have been reluctant to respond to his DM on Instagram at first, Jo said she eventually gave in before she met Burna at one of his concerts in the UK.
“I feel like what he made me feel like when I met him made me feel like love at first sight. He just gravitated towards me, he was very sweet,” she recalled.
