Burger King Mascot & Ronald McDonald Kiss For ‘Love Conquers All’ Ad
There’s a new ad floating around on social media and it’s not photoshopped. Instead, it’s apart of Burger King’s new campaign which celebrates LGBTQ pride. The ad photo which is appropriately called, “Love Conquers All,” features the fast-food chain’s mascot kissing its rival McDonald’s mascot, Ronald McDonald.

Global Chief Marketing Officer Fer Machado shared the advertisement that is plastered at a bus stop in Finland. He captioned the post: “Proud to see Burger King Finland as the official partner of The Helsinki Pride. Even more proud of our 100% Corporate Equality Index. Congrats to Kaisa from the BK Finland team for such a beautiful execution. @HRC #helsinkipride2020 #helsinkipride #loveconquersall.”
The campaign was launched by Burger King Finland as the brand serves as the official partner for Helsinki Pride. According to Newsweek, the event kicked off on September 7 and will go until the 11th after being delayed due to the coronavirus. In a statement to Adweek, Burger King Finland’s brand manager Kaisa Kasila explained the values Burger King has always held dear:
“Burger King has always stood for equality, love and everyone’s right to be just the way they are,” she said. “The only instance where it might not seem so is when we’re bantering with our competitor.”
Fer Machado also told Adweek how important diversity and inclusion was to its company. He also said he hopes that McDonald’s will understand that the ad’s message transcends mere corporate rivalry, the news site notes.
“Our brand is always bold, edgy, and fun. So showcasing this ‘impossible kiss’ is a way to demonstrate that love conquers all. And we hope that ‘the other guys’ understand that it is actually a celebration of love rather than a competitive statement,” he said.
