Emma Heming Willis, the wife of Bruce Willis, gives an update on the legendary actor’s health and reveals he is currently living in a “second home” with full-time care as he battles dementia.
In March 2022, we first shared that Willis was “stepping away from acting” following his frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and aphasia diagnosis. At the time, Willis’ family revealed his diagnosis with the medical condition that results in the inability to understand words and communicate clearly.
In September 2023, Heming, an author, activist and former model, gave a heartbreaking update on her husband’s condition, adding, “Dementia is hard.”

Now, nearly two years later, Heming, 49, is giving another heartbreaking update on the 70-year-old actor. Her update arrives ahead of her forthcoming book, ‘The Unexpected Journey.’ The pair also have a Hulu and Disney+ show currently airing and called, ‘Emma & Bruce Willis: The Unexpected Journey.’
While speaking with ABC News’ Diane Sawyer, 79, in a sit-down that aired on Tuesday (August 26), Heming opened up about what she’d “really love to know” from her husband amid his dementia battle.
She said she would simply ask him, ‘How’s he doing, [if] he’s okay, he feels okay. If there’s anything that we could do to support him better. She added, “I would really love to know that. If he’s scared. If he’s ever worried. I just would love to be able to just to have a conversation with him.”

Speaking on the ‘Fifth Element’ actor, she said he’s “in really great health overall” and “it’s just his brain that is filling him.” She explained:
“The language is going, and we’ve learned to adapt. And we have a way of communicating with him, which is just a different way. He’s holding our hands. We’re kissing him. We’re hugging him. That’s all I need, you know? I don’t need him to know that I am his wife, and we were married on this day … I don’t need any of that. I just wanna feel that I have a connection with him. And I do.”
Bruce Willis and Emma Heming tied the knot in March 2009. They share two daughters: Mabel Willis, 13, and Evelyn Willis, 11. The two girls join their three older sisters from Willis’ previous marriage to actress Demi Moore: Rumer Willis, 37, Scout Willis, 34, and Tallulah Willis, 31.
