NYC Parolee Murders Man Over Clogged Toilet

A man has been charged with murder after a heated dispute over a clogged toilet led to the death of one person.

On Tuesday, Christopher Machicote, 27, was arrested for allegedly killing his roommate, Keyan Francis, 28, at their shared property on March 26 when he is said to have shot the latter with a single gunshot wound to the torso, the NY Daily News reports.

The incident took place at the Morris Houses in the Bronx, New York, on March 26, with the New York Police Department responding to a 911 call at 10:45 a.m. But upon their arrival, sources say Keyan was said to have been found unresponsive and unconscious.

The victim was rushed to the St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead after succumbing to his injury.

Christopher, who had been crashing on the sofa of what insiders believe was a hangout for gang members, has also been faced with charges of manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon, the same firearm used to end Keyan’s life.

One eyewitness told police that several people were hanging out in the apartment that morning when a quarrel was heard between the two men from another room.

While it’s unclear how long Christopher had been living at the property, his stay turned violent when the altercation between him and Keyan over the overflowing toilet took place, with investigators still trying to figure out who dealt the toilet clogger.

Law enforcement officers believe that the incident involved an accomplice of the 27-year-old, who cops have described as a “light-skinned woman” wearing burgundy pants and a white shirt at the time of the fatal shooting.

A Bronx Criminal Court judge told Christopher he’d be held without bail during an arraignment proceeding on Wednesday evening.

He’d previously been convicted of attempted robbery in Queens, a borough of New York City, in 2016, during which time he was sentenced to three and a half years in prison. His parole was set to end in September 2025.
