31-year-old Felix Jose Almanzar traveled to Colombia and disappeared on the third day of his vacation. His family reported him missing after learning that he had an argument with his girlfriend Saturday morning  and never returned to his hotel room shortly after. His father, Francisco Torres told News 12 that he believes that his son encountered the wrong people before his body was found three miles away from the hotel where he was staying.

Prior to his death, Torres and his wife Dianna warned their son not to travel to the country because they felt it would be too dangerous for him. Almanzar told them that the flight was too cheap and he made the decision to go on the trip. Now the family says his death has been ruled as a homicide after speaking with authorities in Colombia.
