Brittney Reportedly Pleads Not Guilty In Moscow Court — Arrest Extended To May 17
This Thursday, Brittney Griner pled not guilty in a Russian court and will remain in custody for AT LEAST another two months after they extended the arrest of the WNBA star.
According to TMZ citing Russian news agency TASS, the Moscow court granted more time to investigate the alleged crimes. They are extending her “period of detention of the U.S. citizen Griner until May 19.”
As it was previously reported, Griner has been in custody since February after Russian customs officials claim they found hashish oil which are vape cartridges in her carry-on luggage at an airport. From there, Russian officials said they opened up a drug trafficking investigation into Griner.
The WNBA star is a player for the Phoenix Mercury and has competed overseas during the league’s offseason. She’s played for UMMC Ekaterinburg for about seven years alongside other American women’s basketball stars.
