‘Basketball Wives Los Angeles’ star Brittany Renner opens up about her relationship with rapper Kevin Gates and admits they did get married, on April 6, and have already gotten divorced, as of May 28.
Before reportedly starting their romance in 2022, the duo have had a slow burn. They have been seen flirting with each other online and at various events.
On May 2, the couple hit what appeared to be their first red carpet together. At the ‘BBWLA’ Season 12 premiere, Gates courted Renner. On the carpet, she was seen rocking a huge rock on her left ring finger. Since then, things have changed.
Brittany Renner Marries Kevin Gates And Quickly Divorces
While speaking with Real 92.3’s Bootleg Kev, Brittany Renner shared, “We got married April 6 and divorced May 28.” Kev asked for clarification, “So, you’re divorced?” Renner confirmed, “Yes.” However, she added that she and Gates are under the rules and laws of Islam, so there is a caveat. She explained:
“But, there is a 90-day waiting period in Islam where you basically have 90 days to see if you’re pregnant — because, you know, he would be responsible. Also, those 90 days are for reconciliation because Allah wants you to stay married. During those 90 days, you are not to entertain anybody romantically.”

Renner continued:
“What I will say is that Islam made my life a lot easier. I think even with this transition and the things changing. Honestly, it’s like I don’t think anybody gets married to not stay married. So, I think my biggest thing for me is a nice 90-day reset — just focusing on myself and pouring into myself. What I also will add is that I followed my heart, and that’s more than what most people can say in this world, and I have no shame in that. That’s why I’m here during the BET Awards Weekend. As you can see, I’m out here in this blacktop by myself.”
