Britney Spears Will Not Be Charged For Alleged Battery Against Housekeeper

Britney Spears has one less thing to worry about.

On Wednesday, Ventura County District Attorney’s Office declined to move forward with filing charges against Britney Spears for an alleged battery complaint made by her housekeeper.

As we previously reported, last month, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office told ET that a member of the singer’s staff reported that Spears allegedly “struck her” after they got into a dispute at Spears’ home. According to the D.A.’s office, “Spears’ housekeeper later reported that she had an argument with Spears’ regarding the veterinary care of Spears’ dog. During the argument, Spears was alleged to have slapped a phone out of the housekeeper’s hand. The housekeeper indicated that the screen protector to the phone was damaged.” Despite that, Supervisor Heller noted in his review of the case that the housekeeper had “no visible injuries.”

Spears’s lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, said in a statement to Vulture about Britney not being charged he said, “As I have previously stated, this was nothing more than sensationalized-tabloid fodder — an overblown ‘he said, she said’ regarding a cell phone. If this involved Jane Doe rather than Britney Spears it would not have been pursued or covered at all.”

On top of dealing with this. Spears has been dealing with her ongoing conservatorship battle which has intensified. She’s recently accused her father James Spears of trying to get $2 million before stepping down as conservator. In a new court filing Monday, Mathew Rosengart demanded James “Jamie” Spears’ resign as conservator, a position he has held for 13 years, without payment.
