Britney Spears took to Instagram this week, saying she wants to keep her unborn baby in her womb “for eternity” as she gave her fans an update on her third pregnancy. The Heaven On Earth singer, who announced she was expecting her third child in a somewhat confusing IG post earlier this month, couldn’t help but gush about her journey since learning the joyful news.

According to the 40-year-old, she has cherished her pregnancy so much that she could see herself holding the baby inside her womb for a lifetime, explaining, “I genuinely like holding this precious miracle inside of me.” Britney continued, “I just want time to stop and hold it in here for eternity … the stillness of holding something so holy and beautiful inside me makes me feel more blessed than anything.”

This is Britney’s first pregnancy with fiancé Sam Asghari’s child. The pair first met when the latter was hired to star as Britney’s love interest for her Slumber Party music video in 2016 before exchanging numbers and dating one another. Then, in late 2021, the actor and fitness model popped the question to the Mississippi native, who has referred to Sam as her “husband” ever since.

Britney already shares two children, sons Jayden and Sean Preston, from her previous marriage to backup dancer Kevin Federline, whom she married in 2004 and divorced three years later.

Further on in her Instagram caption, the Grammy winner touched on her turbulent relationship with her family — her mother, Lynne, in particular, saying she refused to allow her parent to hold her sons when they were babies because of how protective she was over her boys.

“I know this sounds horrible but I wouldn’t even let my own mother hold my babies when they were born !!!” she recalled. “My mother never held Preston as an infant and Jayden was held one time for literally 5 seconds. I was probably extreme but I couldn’t let go !!! Almost too bonded !!! Talk about mama bear … good God !!!”

When Britney became pregnant with Jayden, she shed light on being left to dwell on her own as her then-husband Kevin was nowhere to be found. In the end, she decided to call it quits and settled for joint custody. The following year, however, things would take a drastic turn when the Heaven On Earth hitmaker was said to have endured a mental breakdown, leading to a court-ordered conservatorship managed by her father, Jamie Spears, in 2008.

Over the summer of 2021, Britney asserted that the 13-year arrangement had been “abusive” at times, adding that her family had taken advantage of the conservatorship while accusing her father of keeping her in a mental health facility against her will. Some of her other accusations included the alleged threats of not being able to see her children if she didn’t commit to the grueling work schedule she was given. A judge freed Britney from the court order in November 2021.
