A British woman was fatally shot by her father in Texas following what was described as an argument about Donald Trump earlier that day.

On January 10, 2025, 23-year-old Lucy Harrison was visiting her father in Prosper with her boyfriend, Sam Littler. According to the BBC, local police initially investigated her death as a possible case of manslaughter. However, a criminal case was not brought against her father, Kris Harrison, after a Collin County grand jury declined to indict him. An inquest into Lucy’s death opened at the Cheshire Coroner’s Court in the United Kingdom, where new details about the events leading up to the shooting were shared.

Boyfriend Describes Argument Prior to Shooting

During the inquest, Sam Littler testified that the argument between Lucy and her father involved political issues, including sexual abuse allegations connected to President Trump. Littler said Lucy became upset during the discussion and was uncomfortable with her father owning a firearm. According to testimony, Lucy asked her father: “How would you feel if I was the girl in that situation and I’d been sexually assaulted?”

Kris Harrison reportedly responded that he had two other daughters who lived with him and that it would not bother him. The court also heard that Kris Harrison had moved to the United States when Lucy was a child and had previously been in rehabilitation for alcohol addiction. In a statement presented at the inquest, he admitted that he relapsed on the day of the shooting and consumed approximately two cups of white wine.

Littler testified that Lucy was in the kitchen about an hour and a half before they were scheduled to leave for the airport. He said Kris then grabbed Lucy and took her into his bedroom. Moments later, Littler heard a loud bang, and Kris called out to his wife.

Father’s Statement to the Court

In his statement, Kris Harrison claimed that Lucy had been watching a news clip about guns when he mentioned his firearm and asked if she wanted to see it.

“As I lifted the gun to show her I suddenly heard a loud bang. I did not understand what had happened. Lucy immediately fell.”

He also told the court:

“There isn’t a day I don’t feel the weight of that loss, a weight I will carry for the rest of my life.”

Authorities in Collin County previously reviewed the case, but a grand jury declined to bring criminal charges against him.

Family Remembers Lucy Harrison

Lucy’s mother, Jane Coates, described her daughter as someone who cared deeply about the issues that mattered to her.

“She loved to have debates about things that meant a lot to her.”

The inquest remains ongoing as officials continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding Lucy Harrison’s death.
