British Man Charged With Assault After Farting In An Uber
James Mallett, a 35-year-old British man, has been charged with assault after farting in an Uber on the way home from a nightclub.
After Mallett let one rip, the driver, identified as Aleksander Bonchev, furiously ordered him to get out of the vehicle, claiming it was “the final straw” after suffering abuse from other riders. In addition to passing some gas, on the way out of the car, Mallett threw a few blows at Bonchev, which led to a fight and ended with Mallett on the ground after the driver knocked him down in self-defense.
After the incident, Mallett was arrested; and later, in a Bristol Crown Court, he pleaded guilty to assault and was sentenced to six months in jail, suspended him for 18 months, and ordered him to pay roughly $600, plus 120 hours community service. In addition to suffering a broken finger, the incident caused Bonchev to pack up and go back home to Bulgaria after he lost his car and job with Uber.
