Christmas is around the corner and we have a new classic that is going to be on your holiday list with Prime Video’s Candy Cane Lane coming out this week. The film marks comedic legend Eddie Murphy’s first holiday film ever and it is one to be remembered.

Directed by Reginald Hudlin and written by Kelly Younger, the film follows the story of a neighborhood’s festive celebrations where an annual competition for the most splendidly decorated Christmas home is the talk of the town. In a fervent quest for victory, Chris Carver strikes a desperate bargain with Pepper, a charming stranger promising magical assistance to transform his house into a winter wonderland. Little does Chris know that Pepper is a malevolent elf notorious for ensnaring others in sinister pacts, dooming them to become lifeless plastic dolls. As the truth unravels, Chris races against time, realizing he’s entangled in a perilous deal. Now, he must unite his family to thwart Pepper’s wicked plans, safeguarding their community from a fate draped in misery. The Carver family embarks on a courageous mission, determined to unravel the dark magic and shatter the agreement before irrevocable harm befalls them all.

The plot has a great setup with high stakes and tension, which created the perfect for a holiday-themed tale.

To celebrate the upcoming release we spoke with Director Reginald Hudlin, writer Kelly Younger and the creative behind the visual magic and sets, Aaron Osborne. The trio dived into the elements that make a perfect holiday film that becomes a staple for many years and what it was like having Murphy take on a holiday film. Young Fly, Riki Lindhome, Anjelah Johnson-Reyes, Lombardo Boyar, Danielle Pinnock and Timothy Simons.
