Breonna Taylor’s Boyfriend Kenneth Walker Sues Louisville Police
According to The Courier-Journal, Kenneth Walker, Breonna Taylor’s boyfriend, is suing the Louisville Police Department.
In the suit that was filed with the Jefferson County District Court on Tuesday, Walker states that he did not shoot officers the night police entered Taylor’s apartment with the use of force on a no-knock warrant, and shot and killed her. Walker’s attorney, Steve Romines also told the paper that there is evidence that backs up Walker’s claim: “We know police are firing wildly from various angles,” Romines said. “The timeline and evidence at the scene is more indicative of [police] actually shooting [Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly] than it is Kenny Walker.”

As the news site notes, Walker is seeking monetary damages from Louisville and its police force, not only for battery but also for false arrest and imprisonment and assault. In addition to that, malicious prosecution, abuse of process, and negligence stemming from the night of the shooting, the paper notes.
As we previously reported, police claim Walker’s shot struck Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly in the femoral artery in his thigh, but his legal team refutes that. “Kenny continues to reel from the death of the love of his life, but he is also the victim and survivor of police misconduct – misconduct that threatens his freedom to this day,”
None of the officers involved in the incident have been arrested. However, only one cop — Brett Hankison — has been fired. KY Attorney General Daniel Cameron recently announced that he received a critical ballistics report about Breonna’s death, but claimed it was inconclusive.
