Just a day after people started to express concern over President Biden’s health following his “cancer,” comments, now there may be a reason he appeared a bit “off.”
This Thursday, White House Press Secretary Karin Jean-Pierre announced that Biden has been diagnosed with COVID-19. She released a statement this morning which gives an update on his health. The statement read,
“This morning, President Biden tested positive for COVID-19. He is fully vaccinated and twice boosted and experiencing very mild symptoms. He has begun taking Paxlovid. Consistent with CDC guidelines, he will isolate at the White House and will continue to carry out all of his duties fully during that time. He has been in contact with members of the White House staff by phone this morning, and will participate in his planned meetings at the White House this morning via phone and Zoom from the residence. She added,
“Consistent with White House protocol for positive COVID cases, which goes above and beyond CDC guidance, he will continue to work in isolation until he tests negative. Once he tests negative, he will return to in-person work. Out of an abundance of transparency, the White House will provide a daily update on the
President’s status as he continues to carry out the full duties of the office while in isolation. Per standard protocol for any positive case at the White House, the White House Medical Unit will inform all close contacts of the President during the day today, including any Members of Congress and any members of the press who interacted with the President during yesterday’s travel. The President’s last previous test for COVID was Tuesday, when he had a negative test result.“
To note, Biden is fully vaccinated and boosted.

Well on Wednesday, Biden concerned many people after he seemingly claimed he had cancer. As we previously reported, while speaking to a crowd in Somerset, Mass., about the health effects caused by emissions from oil refineries near his hometown in Delaware, Biden said, “That’s why I — and so damn many other people I grew up with — have cancer and why for the longest time Delaware had the highest cancer rate in the nation,” Biden said. Of course, Twitter assumed that Biden was making a revelation. An account run by the Republican National Committee, quickly posted a video clip, tweeting, “Did Joe Biden just announce he has cancer?” The claim quickly gained traction among conservative figures online.
White House deputy press secretary, Andrew Bates quickly put an end to all the speculation and responded by pointing to a tweet from Glenn Kessler, the editor and chief writer for the Washington Post’s Fact Checker. Kessler debunked the claim, pointing out Biden had minor skin cancers removed prior to his presidency, which was noted in a health report released last year. “This is what the President was referring to,” Bates tweeted.
