BREAKING: Capitol Police Are Investigating An Active Bomb Threat
Looks like there’s more trouble at the Capitol. The U.S. Capitol Police are currently investigating an “active bomb threat” near the building after “responding to a suspicious vehicle” on Capitol Hill.
In a tweet posted this Thursday morning, the agency said, the investigation is ongoing and urged people to stay away from the area. The suspicious vehicle is currently located near the Library of Congress, which is across the street from the Capitol building and Supreme Court.
So far, at least one building in the vicinity was evacuated. According to The Hill, an alert was also sent out, warning those in another building that is part of the Capitol complex and houses the Library of Congress of an “internal security threat” and directed staff to “move inside your office or the nearest office” and “stay away from external doors and windows.”
Law enforcement officials told the AP that investigators were at the scene and working to determine whether the device was an operable explosive.
To note, Capitol Police and D.C. police have been on high alert since Jan. 6.
