‘Bratz’ Creator Goes On Racist Rant Against Black Influencer, Calls Her A ‘Disgrace To Black People & BLM’

Bratz‘ creator Isaac Larian, is now apologizing after going on a racist rant against black influencer Amina Mucciolo, whom he called a “disgrace to black people and the BLM cause.” The incident occurred after Mucciolo accused Larian’s MGA Entertainment company (which makes Bratz & LOL Surprise dolls and Little Tikes toys) of copying her image for one of their LOL dolls.

In late 2019, Mucciolo says followers DM’d her asking if she knew the company made a doll based off of her. Mucciolo says the doll resembled her distinctive and unique 35th birthday look of aqua hair with rainbow highlights. While Mucciolo says she wore the style from November 2018 to February 2019, the company shows that their doll in question, “Rainbow Raver,” was released in June 2019.

After Mucciolo reached out to MGA on June 7, 2020, on June 10, LOL Surprise responded, denying her allegations; claiming the doll had been in development since September 2018. After blasting them on social again, Larian jumped in and went on a racist rant, stating, “You are a @Disgrace to black people and the # BLM cause. #Liar and #Coward.” He continued, “You are a liar and a extortinist [sic] and fraud. Who’s your so called lawyer? Put his name and contact information here publicly now so we can contact him or her. Now we will not longer be nice and we will sue you for defamation, extortion and fraud, etc. Watch!”

Subsequent to backlash on social media, Larian posted an apology, stating, “I don’t know @studiomucci personally, and my reaction was solely based on the allegations which we looked into and found were false. The words I used came from frustration because her actions are attacking the products and integrity of people I care deeply about. I was wrong for that.”

Mucciolo concludes, “I’m not going to let this stop me from expressing myself and putting love, color and positivity into the world. I will continue to speak up for myself because I feel like in doing so, I’m also speaking up for every other Black artist and independent creative, who is experiencing this kind of theft, but may not have the kind of platform I do. This behavior from big corporations has to stop. It’s too easy just to pay and collaborate with an artist instead of stealing.”
