Singer Brandy got candid about her battle with depression during a recent interview, adding that it became so overwhelming that she even contemplated suicide.

The depression really hit the singer after she was involved in a fatal car accident, while also dealing with a failed relationship.

“I remember laying in bed super depressed,” she told People. “I [told] myself, ‘So, you’re just going to go out like this? That’s wack. You have a daughter. If you can’t do it for yourself, do it for her because this is not the way to leave a mark in her life.’”

Back in 2006, Brandy, 41, drove a car that fatally hit a 38-year-old woman. Brandy was not charged and settled out of court.

“If Sy’rai wasn’t here, I wouldn’t be either,” the singer said about her daughter. “The place that I was in, it just felt like I wasn’t going to make it through.”

If you recall, the singer previously told The Post thather new single, “Borderline,” speaks about these issues, and dealing with the break up of her daughter’s father.

“I loved someone that was not available to be loved by me, and so that drove me crazy,” she said. “I wanted to use my music as a way to start more conversations about mental health and how that’s something that we all need to work on every day.”
