The Boy Is (Still) Theirs: Brandy and Monica Finally Hit the Road Together

Whew! Brandy and Monica are bringing that 90s vibe back for fans in a major way — and finally clearing the air about those long-standing feud rumors.

Are You Here For This!? Brandy & Monica Announce ‘The Boy Is Mine’ Tour — Kelly Rowland, Muni Long & Jamal Roberts Joining As Co-Headliners!!

Fast forward 25 years since they dropped their iconic duet, The Boy Is Mine, and now these two Grammy-winning R&B queens are teaming up to finish off 2025 with their first-ever co-headlining arena tour. Fittingly titled The Boy Is Mine Tour, it kicks off October 16 in Cincinnati and wraps December 7 in Houston. Cities like ATL, Brooklyn, L.A., and NOLA are already buzzing.

“This really is a full-circle moment,” Brandy said in a press statement. “Monica and I coming together again isn’t just about the music — it’s about honoring where we came from and how far we’ve both come. ‘The Boy Is Mine’ was a defining chapter in R&B, and to share the stage all these years later is bigger than a reunion; it’s a celebration of growth, sisterhood, and the love our fans have given us from day one.”

Monica added, “The love that ‘The Boy Is Mine’ continues to receive means everything to me. This tour is a celebration of our history, our impact, and the fans who have grown with us. Brandy and I have been on our own unique journeys, and coming back together in this way is a reminder of the power of respect, strength, and real music. We’re giving the people what they’ve been asking for, and doing it with grace, love, and purpose. God’s timing perfectly aligned us.”

“People Forget We Were Teenagers”: Brandy and Monica Address the Long-Standing Drama

On Tuesday’s CBS Mornings, Brandy called the tour “a dream come true,” adding that fans have wanted this since 1998. But if you remember, that same year is when the drama hit the fan.

After the duet blew up, the duo had a now-infamous backstage altercation before performing at the MTV VMAs — and their beef lived on for years.

“It started as nothing and it really did turn into something,” Monica said. “There was a lot of confusion and conflict, and there was a lot of people around.”

And yo, they were literally just kids trying to navigate fame and pressure.

“People forget too, I was 17, she was 18 when we did the record,” Monica said. “People forget that you’re having this conversation about children, basically. You’re inciting a riot amongst children! We were teenagers!”

Brandy lived in L.A., Monica was ATL-based — and the distance didn’t help. “We didn’t really know each other,” Monica admitted.

Brandy even acknowledged, “The song didn’t help either. We were fighting over a boy!”

“And we don’t even like the same type of boy,” Monica laughed. “There could never have been a boy!”

Healing, Grown-Woman Energy, and the Power of Communication

Their 2020 Verzuz battle was the olive branch. Then came their 2021 collab It All Belongs to Me and their 2024 surprise remix appearance in Ariana Grande’s The Boy Is Mine video — which even got them a Grammy nod.

Since then, it’s been real grown-woman talk, love, and healing.

“We created the communication and the relationship to do it. It’s a musical marriage. When you start to go on a tour, especially of this caliber, we have to talk about everything,” Monica explained.

Respect, transparency, and mutual purpose are what make this tour different. They’ve evolved, and they want the world to witness that transformation live and loud.
