Brandon Bruce Lee’s Family Reacts To Alec Baldwin’s Prop Shooting “No One Should Ever Be Killed On Set”
The family of late actor Brandon Lee, son of the late Bruce Lee, is speaking out after cinematographer Halyna Hutchins lost her life on set after Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun on the set of the movie “Rust,” that contained a live round.
Talented cinematographer Hutchins, 42, was pronounced dead by hospital staff at the University of New Mexico Hospital on Thursday. The director of the film Joel Souza, 48, was also taken to Christus St. Vincent’s Regional Medical Center for his injuries.
The latest tragic incident has called into question the safety of weapons on Hollywood film sets as a similar incident transpired on set of “The Crow” in North Carolina back in 1993.
Brandon Lee, who was the son of martial-arts legend Bruce Lee, died at 28 in March 1993 after his co-star Michael Massee fired a prop gun that he believed to be loaded with blanks, but actually had a a .44-caliber bullet inside that killed Lee.
Lee’s sister, Shannon Lee, who runs his Twitter shared a message following Hutchins’ death.
“Our hearts go out to the family of Halyna Hutchins and to Joel Souza and all involved in the incident on “Rust”. No one should ever be killed by a gun on a film set. Period.”
