Boy Arrested For Stealing A School Bus And Crashes It During Police Chase

A Louisiana boy was taken into police custody after he stole a school bus and went on a joy ride before crashing it during a high-speed police chase.

According to WBRZ, the 11-year-old boy stole the school bus near the Progress Head Start School and led police on a chase from Scotlandville to Central. Authorities reported he stole the vehicle shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday and stopped near Greenwell Springs Road after hitting a gas line then crashed into a tree. He has no reported injuries.


The boy’s identity was not revealed due to his age but Baton Rouge Police have charged him with theft of a motor vehicle, aggravated flight along with three counts of aggravated damage, and aggravated assault.

A witness reported that they saw the bus speeding past with police vehicles trailing behind it. Investigators also reported they are unclear of how the child had access to the bus and where he found it.
