Yikes! An on duty Boston police officer was left injured after violently tumbling down a children’s slide in a new viral video. #Socialites, do you think he can get workers’ comp or settlement for the in-the-field injury?

Last fall, Boston’s City Hall Plaza reopened, featuring a brand new playground that included a long and twisty slide meant for children aged 2 to 12, but has since become a go-to attraction for citizens of all ages.

The giant metal slide, that’s seems easy going for children, has turned out to be not so smooth for adults. In fact, it’s quite the opposite; especially after seeing a viral video of a Boston police officer being launched from the slide after having a chaotic, bumpy ride down.

In one video shared to social media this past week, the officer, who was on duty, ended up hurting himself after he decided to push himself down the slide. The video begins with viewers seeing the long and windy slide and hearing clanking and banging noises coming from inside.

Next thing viewers see is the uniformed police officer coming flying out of the chute (feet first, but face down), getting pretty banged up by the side walls, and then being flung onto the ground, coming to a rest after a couple tumbles. The officer hit the ground so hard that some of his gear from his utility belt went flying off his person.

Speaking on the viral footage circulating the internet, Boston Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Det. John Boyle said the officer in the viral video ended up using his own medical care and health insurance to treat his injuries after being flung from the slide; he did not charge the city.

Sgt. Det. Boyle also said that although the officer in the video got injured, he lost no time from work. Being that the officer has since had his injuries treated with his own medical insurance, Sgt. Det. Boyle confirmed that the Boston Police Department is not currently investigating the incident.

It is reported that this police officer’s wild ride on the City Hall Plaza slide is not the first time that someone has encountered such a dangerous and unexpected trip.

In fact back in November 2022, ahead of the plaza’s grand reopening, City Councilor Erin Murphy posted a clip to her official account on X, the social media site formerly known as Twitter. The video showed her making her way down the slide on her stomach, and even losing a shoe on the way out.

She wrote, “Just another day at City Hall. 😂 No, but seriously, the new City Hall Plaza is amazing. Toured it today before the grand opening this Friday. Come on by to check it out. Just be careful on the slide. 😂 “ She also added, “For the record… I started down the slide sitting straight up and facing forward. I got whipped around in the tunnel and came out backwards and upside down.”
