Boosie Badazz (aka Lil Boosie, or just Boosie) has over twenty years in the music game and says he’s now looking to sell half of his independent catalog for $10 to $20 million. He explains, “I got 22 albums. I’ll do a 10-album deal and get it back in 20 years for my kids.”
While appearing on a recent episode of The Danza Project podcast, the Baton Rouge, Louisiana rapper, born Torrence Ivy Hatch Jr., opened up his career and also revealed that he is looking to sell some of his independent catalog.
Boosie revealed, “I’m finna do a deal on my independent catalog. I’m finna sell half of my independent catalog, most of the stuff that I own. I probably got 22 albums that’s mine. So I think I’m finna do a ten-album deal. That’s my catalog, you know, go get about $10, $15, $20 million right quick, easy. And you get it back in 20 years, you know. That’s when your kids need it, when they’re grown.”
When asked if you get the royalties back after the 20 years, Boosie confirms, “Yeah. Or you can do it forever. It just depends on how much money you want. They got real money out there, bro. A lot of people are doing it. Like, if your distro is making 500, 600 a year, sh*t, they’ll give you 20 times that. And I’ll put 10 more albums on that in a week.”
Boosie is then asked if he makes more money with his music or talking to the people. He admits, “Music.” Laughing, he adds, “I only do really Vlad TV. I get paid top dollar for my interviews. It’s just my music… I got a loyal fanbase. Me putting all my music on DistroKid. If I’m not putting it on DistroKid, I’m putting it through Connect [Music], and I have ownership in that also. My fans are loyal.”
